Good to see you here!
I’m a Notts-based novel writer. I write fantasy with one foot in the real world and bigger-than-life characters, with generous sprinking of dragons. It is my life's mission to make vampires cool again.

Thicker than Water
It is 1490. Humans are about to discover America. Tawny is about to lose her life. Instead of dying, she wakes up without a heartbeat and with an insatiable urge to cause violence. To taste blood.

She is rescued by Kip, an ancient witch, and a young nymph named Matias, who carry invisible scars from their lockdown in Córdoba. All three battle their own demons - Kip, the loss of a woman she loves; Tawny, her feral lack of control; and Matias, displacement from his home ground. As Kip finds creative (and often self-destructive) ways to feed Tawny, a dark coil of demonic energy brews in the north...

Taking Root
A hundred years later and five thousand miles south, Matias has been given his new protectorate: a Mozabican rainforest ravaged by Portuguese conquistadors. Knowing the coloniser's language is not enough - Matias will have to learn to be human to fit in and nurse his rainforest back to health.

Dora Costa has sailed around the African coast with her husband, a conquistador. Mozambique was to be the promised, sun-kissed land. But she is far from home, family, and all that she knows. Through Matias' and Dora's letters, they become home to each other, an affair further complicated by Matias' fresh memory of witchburning and Dora's inevitable mortality.
